Exhibit a high transparency in UV, visible and mid-infrared from 0.3 up to 4.5µm (see graph below):
Cut-back background losses:
  • ZFG: Typ < 20dB/km at 2.5 µm
  • IFG: Typ < 20dB/km at 3.6 µm
  • GeG: Typ < 150 dB/km at 2.78 μm < 400 dB/km at 2.94 μm
Operation wavelengths (<1dB/m):
  • ZFG: 0.32-4.3µm
  • IFG: 0.335-5.3µm
  • GeG: 2.78 and 2.94µm

In order to maintain linear polarization during proropation throught the fiber, LVF has developed special PM fibers.  The linear polarization during propagation is obtained thanks to two air-gaps (see fiber section image).

LVF delivers a standard ZFG polarization maintaining fiber.

ZFG (Zirconium ZrF4 Fluoride Glass) polarization-maintaining fibers are fluorozirconate fibers designed to maintain linear polarization during propagation. They exhibit high transparency from UV to mid-infrared, up to 4.5 µm.

Typical losses are less than 20 dB/km at 2.5 µm.

The linear polarization during propagation is achieved thanks to the two air-gaps in the fiber structure.

These fibers were developed for the GRAVITY project and are integrated into systems including a delay line and a polarization rotator. They are suitable for applications in instrumentation and astronomy.
